Personally oversaw the creation of the largest pure play online
apparel retailer -- under my technology leadership, Zappos achieved
profitability and saw rapid revenue growth from startup to $587
million in 2006.
- Created and led a team of sixteen that was responsible for all
Zappos software
- Designed a robust, flexible system and established
practices for rapid development and ongoing feature additions
- Managed and took part in the development of hundreds of pieces
of custom software that saw continuous high volume use

Zappos was rated the fastest and most reliable retail

and Keynote Systems
- Managed the creation of custom warehouse management
software and processes that improved inventory accuracy by a
factor of 10 over a well known third party solution
- Partnered with Arup and FKI on the design and construction
of a $25 million automated distribution center; a quarter of
the cost estimated by outside consultants
- Integrated our system with many third party software packages
and web services including Great Plains, ADP Payroll Systems,
FKI Warehouse Optimizer, Google Advertising, and many more
- Reported directly to the CEO and the board, coordinated with
department heads to continuously meet ongoing development needs
Lead Software Engineer, PayMe.com, Inc.
• Dec 1999 to Jul 2000
Launched a PayPal competitor, which grew to 50,000
active users in four months and was acquired by PayMyBills, Inc.
- Architected financial transaction system, worked
closely with others to incorporate new features
- Organized regular code launches from a team of nine developers
and web designers
- Administered secure web and database servers

• Aug 1997 to Dec 1999
Integrated features from half a dozen online services into a
control center used by more than 40,000 webmasters per day
- Provided data synchronization solutions for teams in Boston,
Redmond, and San Francisco
- Took a lead role in refactoring the control center,
including objects and tools for other developers
- Maintained hundreds of scripts for both free and paid services
